These awards are an opportunity for the Law Society to recognise and celebrate our most exceptional members and their ongoing, tireless contribution to excellence in their field, service to the community and the profession, and commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards.

Wellbeing Champion of the Year |
This award recognises excellence on the part of an individual, legal team or law firm with regard to of wellbeing. The award celebrates either innovation in, or the championing of, wellbeing initiatives, that improve wellbeing in the legal profession. |

Law Society Mentor of the Year |
The Law Society’s mentoring program is one of our most subscribed programs, with hundreds of mentoring pairs completing the program each year. This award recognises one mentor who goes above and beyond for their mentee, selflessly giving their time, wisdom and support to other members of the profession. |

John Hennessey Government Solicitor Legal Scholarship |
The John Hennessy Legal Scholarship is awarded to a public sector solicitor interested in undertaking a research project into legal systems in another jurisdiction or undertaking further study. The scholarship, established by the Law Society’s Government Solicitors Committee, is an “occasional scholarship” that is offered from time to time and covers travel, study and other approved expenses up to a maximum value of $10,000. The Scholarship recognises great potential in the public sector and encourages continuous improvement and innovation in policy and practice. |

Michelle Crowther Excellence in Government Legal Service Award |
This award recognises a public sector solicitor, or group of solicitors, who have performed above and beyond their usual responsibilities. It recognises excellence in practice, as well as innovation and ethical conduct. The person or team is a great role model for more junior or aspiring government solicitors. |

Excellence in In-House Corporate Practice Award |
This award recognises an in-house corporate solicitor, or group of solicitors, who have performed above and beyond their usual responsibilities. It recognises excellence in practice, as well as innovation and ethical conduct. The person or team is a great role model for more junior or aspiring in-house corporate solicitors. |

Pro Bono Service Award |
This award celebrates the great tradition of pro bono service within the legal profession. The award recognises an individual or legal team that truly goes above and beyond in terms of the delivery of pro bono legal services to the most vulnerable in our community. The award celebrates both volume and effectiveness of pro bono, as well as creating and championing a culture of service within the profession. |

Legal Academic of the Year |
This award recognises excellence in the field of legal academia, and celebrates legal academics who excel in the field of legal research or the education of future legal professionals. This person has made a significant contribution to the future of policy, legal practice or legal education over the past year, and is seen as a shining light within their field. |

Accredited Specialist of the Year |
The Law Society’s Specialist Accreditation program is designed to recognise those to ascend to expert specialisation in their field of practice. This award celebrates the best of the best, with the individual displaying excellence in their specialist field or fields, a commitment to pro bono service, and playing an active leadership role in their broader community. |

Rural and Regional Practitioner of the Year |
This award recognises excellence amongst our rural and regional practitioners, going to an individual displaying excellence, innovation and leadership in their field and community. This person is committed to service of their community and goes above and beyond to ensure access to justice in regional and rural NSW. |

Law Student of the Year |
This award recognises the promise of the future of the profession and goes to an outstanding individual who displays academic excellence, service to the community, and who has overcome significant challenges to strive towards a career in law. |

Early Career Lawyer of the Year |
This award recognises the breadth of talent amongst members within their first five years of practice. This individual displays great promise in their chosen field as well as a commitment to supporting their peers. |

|
Law Society of NSW Member of the Year |
This is the Law Society’s pinnacle award for the most outstanding Law Society committee member. This member will be judged on excellence in their field, as well as their contribution to the Law Society through their committee work, and who demonstrates the highest professional, ethical, and community service standards. |
