The Principal of Richard Harvey & Associates, a property and general practice law firm located on Sydney’s lower north shore, Richard Harvey has practiced continuously as a legal practitioner in NSW for nearly four decades.
A Councillor of The Law Society of New South Wales since 2011, Richard is a Law Society Accredited Specialist in Property Law, Chair of the Property Law Committee and The Law Society of New South Wales Specialist Accreditation Board and a committee member of The Law Society of New South Wales and REI Joint Copyright Committee.
Richard has previously served on the Law Society’s Fidelity Fund Committee, Finance Committee, Conduct Committee and Diversity Committee. He has been Secretary of The North Metropolitan Regional Law Society since 2010.Richard graduated from the Australian Institute of Company Directors in 2016 and is also a non-Executive Director of Lawcover. Tony cahill

Tony Cahill was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 1981 and practiced extensively in conveyancing, probate and commercial law. In July 2002 he commenced a ‘sabbatical’ from private legal practice to concentrate on legal education and writing.
He has been involved in redrafts of the Contract for Sale and Purchase of Land since the 1992 edition, and the Contract for the Sale of Business since the 2000 edition.
He currently serves on the Law Society’s Property Law and Environmental Planning and Development Committees.

Kerrie joined Lawcover in February 2013 as Chief Operations Officer with primary responsibility for leading Professional Services – Claims, Insurance Services, Underwriting and Practice Support Services. Kerrie was admitted as a solicitor in NSW in 1996 and her career has spanned several Sydney law firms. She specialised in personal injury, professional indemnity and insurance litigation. In 2001, Kerrie moved from legal practice to the insurance industry, focusing on public liability, personal injury/catastrophic claims, professional indemnity and financial lines. Her insurance career has included time with AMP/GIO, QBE and MDA National. Kerrie’s broad expertise includes leading diverse teams delivering professional indemnity, advisory and risk management education services with a key focus on successful outcomes, business rigour and client value. Kerrie was appointed Chief Executive Officer effective 7 September 2020.

Gary Newton is a partner in the Property and Development Group of HWL Ebsworth Lawyers.
Gary has been practising in the area of property law for over 35 years, providing advice on a wide range of matters to business, government and individuals. Gary holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Sydney and is an Accredited Specialist in Property Law, since 1994.Gary is the author and editor of the LexisNexis Butterworths NSW Conveyancing Service (loose-leaf) and now the current author of the book 2020-2021 Edition of the 'Annotated Conveyancing & Real Property Legislation in NSW.
Gary is the co-author of a book published in December 2017 called "Land Acquisition" 7th edition by Gary Newton and Christopher Connolly. This new book deals with land acquisition and compulsory resumption in every jurisdiction of Australia. Christopher Connolly is one of Gary Newton's partners at HWL Ebsworth.
Gary is the co-author of a book "Real Property Law Case Summaries" Newton’s 4th edition.
Gary has been awarded the 2018/2019/2020/2021 Best Lawyers in Australia for property law including Lawyer of the Year for 2020 for Leasing Law and also in the 2018/2019/2020 for Doyles Guide to Leading Lawyers. He was also awarded in 2016 a Lexology Client Choice Award for his excellence in client service in the area of Real Estate.
Gary is a member of the Law Society Property Law Committee and the current Chairman of the NSW Committee for the Australian Property Law Group of the Law Council of Australia General Practice Section. Gary is an experienced speaker at conferences, seminars and property law master classes.
Gary is the Honorary Secretary of NSW Rostrum and was made a Freeman of Rostrum. Gary is also a member of the organising Committee for the ‘Voice of Youth’ Australian High School public speaking competition.

Peter Newton

Peter has over 20 years experience in legal practice and litigation. He has a broad civil litigation practice encompassing advisory and advocacy work in the areas of banking and finance, commercial disputes, corporations law matters, and equity cases.
Peter has been appointed as a part-time member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. He regularly appears in the Supreme Court and the District Court of NSW, and the Federal Court. Peter accepts instructions from individuals, and small, medium and large corporations.

Andrew Rider is recognised in Doyle’s Guide as a leading Australian tax barrister specialising in tax litigation and dispute resolution.
Andrew also advises on Australia-wide taxes, including stamp duties, land tax and payroll tax.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Andrew was an Associate to Justice Michael Kirby and solicitor.
Andrew lectures in taxation law at the University of Sydney Law School, judges mooting competitions for the University of NSW and previously lectured at the University of Technology, Sydney.
Andrew edits the leading stamp duty publication “Australian Stamp Duties Law” and authors the national stamp duty section of the leading online service “Practical Guidance - Property Law”.
Andrew is a Chartered Tax Adviser and examiner with The Tax Institute and member of The Tax Institute/Office of State Revenue Liaison Committee and Dispute Resolution Technical Committee. Andrew is also a member of the NCAT Revenue List Consultative Forum.
